Conqueror Project - Breast cancer survivor turns diagnosis into fundraising project
The Conqueror Project to raise funds to fight breast cancer is celebrating both its official launch and its first major event.
Conqueror Project Launch
The project is the brainchild of Kathleen Lamb, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in March of 2014. It raises funds through various sporting events and promotions, and donates money directly to breast cancer research, without any administrative fees.
The Conqueror Project, and the official Web site (www.ConquerorProject.com), have now been officially launched. The name of the Conqueror Project was chosen to reflect its goal. "That is the hope – that with the funds raised, we can help to conquer breast cancer," says Lamb.
"I am the beneficiary of all the research that has occurred," adds Lamb. "It is my hope that through the Conqueror Project enough funds will be raised to aid the researchers in their quest for the answers to the big questions leading to a cure."
While still in its infancy, the Conqueror Project is already achieving visibility and support with key support from Black Knight Enterprises and Ashaway USA.
The project also raises funds through the sale of special edition “Conqueror Project” squash and badminton racquets, designed by Canadian company Black Knight. Ashaway USA, has provided high-performance strings for these racquets. $10 from the sale of each special edition racquet is donated to breast cancer charities. Custom T-shirts are also available with a $5 donation to charity.
First Major Event
Through its connection with racquet sports, The Conquer Project has been named the official charity of this year's Women's World Team Squash Championship, December 1 to 6, in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario. This designation helps raise awareness of the Project in order to assist with fund raising goals.
Other Fundraising Events
The Conqueror Project is also planning fundraising events through contest and promotions. Plans are in the works to offer chances to win racquets and a sponsored squash tournament in Montreal in January 2015.
